🔹 Psychiatrist (M.D. or D.O.) – Medical Doctor for Mental Health

Prescribes Medication – Can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medications such as antidepressants or mood stabilizers.
Medical Training – Has completed medical school and specialized in psychiatry.
Best For: Treating conditions like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, severe depression, and anxiety disorders that may require medication management.
Typical Sessions: Focuses on medical treatment and symptom management, often in shorter visits.

🔹 Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) – Therapy & Mental Health Assessments

Talk Therapy & Psychological Testing – Uses evidence-based therapy methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma therapy, and behavioral assessments.
Cannot Prescribe Medication (except in a few states where they have additional training).
